Ruth E. (Outram) Matthews, 87, formerly of Nashua, NH, Stoneham, MA and more recently Westford, MA, passed away after a long illness at the Westford House on September 4, 2017. She was the loving wife of John F. Matthews Jr. who predeceased her in 2010. She was born in Stoneham, MA on February 15, 1930, daughter of the late Arthur and Grace (Martin) Outram.

Ruth enjoyed knitting, crocheting, doing crafts and sewing. She was a master seamstress, and had made may outfits for her children and grandchildren, and she also like making dolls....

Ruth enjoyed knitting, crocheting, doing crafts and sewing. She was a master seamstress, and had made may outfits for her children and grandchildren, and she also like making dolls. Ruth was a part of the seniors club at the Community Chapel Church of which she was a member.

Ruth is survived by her seven children, Linda Mack and her husband Bruce, Bradford J. Matthews and his wife Nicolette, Brenda Catucci, Ruth-Ellen Matthews, Mary Lou Burke, Alaine Gray, Richard Matthews and his wife Therese. She is also survived by 14 grandchildren and 21 great grandchildren. She was predeceased by her brothers, Arthur Outram Jr. and Elmer Outram, and her sisters, Eleanor Outram and Beatrice Outram.

Visiting hours will be held on Thursday, September 7, 2017 from 6:00PM-9:00PM at the Zis-Sweeney Funeral Home 26 Kinsley St. An hour of visitation will be held on Friday September 8 from 9:00AM-10:00AM with a prayer service to immediately follow at 10:00AM at the Zis Sweeney Funeral Home.
